I met this guy recently (who is turning out to be amazing by the way) and he is going to make me dinner tomorrow night. Would it be cheesy if I showed up with a bottle of wine and a few candles just to make it a little more romantic?

  1. Do it! A little cheesy in life is what makes LOVE.

    Good luck!

  2. I would bring wine but not candles. Bringing wine is a nice gesture but showing up with candles seems a little strange. I hope the date goes well!

  3. the wine sounds good. i would not show up with candles. its his place, he will have them if he wants em. def do the wine tho

  4. If he is cooking you dinner, there is a chance he will have those things anyway but It would be nice to bring a bottle of wine, you never know you might need 2 (wink wink) I personally wouldn’t bring the candles, but maybe some strawberries and champagne for after dinner…or some other dessert that could be shared romantically between the two of you.

  5. I think it would be a terrific thing to do and congratulations on the great catch.

Definately! You never want to show up empty handed to a dinner invite and that sounds like the perfect addition.

  7. Well… the wine is fine to take to a dinner and a very nice gesture, providing he drinks wine, that is.

But as you only met this guy recently, the candles just might give him the wrong message, if you know what I mean.

He could think you’re either going too fast and rushing him into something. Or he could think you’re ready to take it to the bedroom level, when you only want to add a bit of romance, as you said.

So it all depends on the message you want to give out, and how your guy takes it.

But lovely idea, and I can tell you’re very smitten with him already :)

  8. I would do the wine but hold on the candles…maybe later on in the relationship
    GOOD LUCK!

  9. bring the wine not the candles and maybe something little special that can be shared between the two of you or something he really enjoys

  10. Expert opinion (for my credentials, see my sources): Bring the wine, leave the candles at home. If you want to bring something else, homemade cookies are a MUCH better choice than candles.

I would interpret candles as creepy if a girl I just started dating brought them. Besides, if the guy wants candles burning, he’ll have them already. I do.
